WordCamp Asia 2024 Slide Deck

Last week I gave my talk at WordCamp Asia 2024 in Taipei, Taiwan. I was really happy with how it went! It was so cool to see my talk live translated into Chinese, and AI captioning for 57 languages(!) was available through a third-party service during the event.

Completely by chance, Matt Cool from the Mozilla Foundation was in Taipei and decided to swing by WordCamp Asia for his first WordCamp experience. He does community focused work for Mozilla’s open source projects as a Senior Community Manager. He gave me great feedback and had lots of follow up questions. The problems we deal with every day in WordPress are very similar over at Mozilla, which is always fascinating to hear.

I think this talk could be an “evergreen” presentation that adapts slightly over time. I would love to share the lessons learned from the WordPress project with other open source communities looking to improve their own contributor attribution processes.

Watch the replay

If you were unable to attend or watch the live stream (I spoke at midnight EST), I’ve included the replay below and set the embed below to start right before I take the stage. I’ve also included my slide deck in case you’d like to follow along.

Some photos

One final thing I noticed during the event was that after two of the invited speakers had to cancel, I made it onto the home page as a listed speaker. I took a screenshot to document.
