My latest domain purchase

Posted in:

Last week, I bought a new domain… yes, another one. But unlike many of domains of the past, this one is already being put to good use.

It’s no secret, my name is not the easiest to spell. Despite being in my late 30s, I still encounter new spellings and pronunciations on occasion. I have been looking for a domain that’s easier for people to remember for a long time. Every time new TLDs are announced, I try to find some that are available. jon.tech, jon.dev, jon.codes, jon.life. But I’m never early enough.

I own desrosiers.online, but that was more of a strategic grab and doesn’t solve the problem of having a last name that’s difficult to spell. Same is true for jondesrosiers.com. I needed something short and sweet.

I finally found one that I’m happy with for now: jonwp.dev

This is much easier to remember than jonathandesrosiers.com. Hopefully more people will follow up with a visit to my site after an in-person interaction.

Interesting find on April 1st, but unrops.com also seems to work! 😉

Nice grab! Way back in the day I started on adampieniazek.com and then one day saw adamp.com was for sale. So I emailed the seller and they wanted $500. Way too much for a personal blog I thought so I set up a backorder and sure enough that same year it expired and was automatically bought for me! 🙂
