WordCamp Providence 2012

WordCamp Providence Summary

Posted in:

Last weekend was the first WordCamp Providence, and things couldn’t have gone any better. The event was sold out at about 200 people who travelled from all over the country to attend.

As per usual at WordCamps, I met a lot of really cool people, saw a bunch of familiar faces, and even ran into someone who I went to high school with and had not seen since.

Not only was this the first WordCamp Providence, but it was also the first WordCamp that I spoke at. My session was titled “WordPress Plugin Development – Stirred not Shaken“. If you missed it, you can review my slides.

Web Designer's Guide to WordPressJesse Friedman, WordPress Providence Meetup co-organizer recently wrote a book, Web Designer’s Guide to WordPress. I had the honor of being his Technical Editor for the book. Because he could not attend WordCamp Providence, he gave several speakers free digital copies to give out. I told my audience that I would pick someone who sent me a tweet telling me where they had travelled from.

The winner of my digital copy is Christopher Lei who travelled from Burlington, VT.

Below is a map I compiled of attendee locations using Twitter locations of those who were tweeting during the event. If I don’t have your location, feel free to comment and I will add yours!
